Hills Quarry Products Limited: applications made to abstract water

Details of the applications

Hills Quarry Products Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The applications are for a full licence to abstract water for mineral washing and a transfer licence for dewatering from Airfield Quarry, Galley Leaze at National Grid Reference SU 11247 97763.

The full application is to abstract water for mineral washing as follows:

  • 22 cubic metres an hour

  • 527 cubic metres a day

  • 52,691 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The transfer application is to abstract water for dewatering as follows:

  • 215.6 cubic metres an hour

  • 5,173 cubic metres a day

  • 1,888,145 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for dewatering to enable mineral extraction and mineral washing and other processes on site.
