The report identifies Historical Railways Estate structures (bridges, tunnels and embankments, for example) potentially suitable for cycling and walking routes. Produced by the active travel charity Sustrans, it concludes that:
- 26 structures are likely to be useful for use as part of the National Cycle Network (NCN) or local cycling and walking routes
- 24 structures might be useful for local cycling and walking routes but are not considered in current plans
- 25 structures are unlikely to be useful
