Assists customers, agents and employers with queries on National Insurance, Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and Self Assessment, providing extra support for those customers who require it.

Debt Management

Responsible for receiving debt payments and accounting for tax duties and other liabilities, securing late payments and bringing in late returns.

Benefits and Credits Operations

Director: Tamsin Woodeson

Responsible for the delivery of tax-free childcare and Child Benefit and works alongside the Department for Work and Pensions to manage the migration of tax credits customers to Universal Credit.

Operational Excellence

Responsible for compliance interventions into mass marketed tax avoidance and tackling promoters and enablers of avoidance. Develops policy to deter the promotion of tax avoidance.

Fraud Investigation Service

Responsible for HMRC’s civil and criminal investigations into serious fraud, deploying a full range of powers, including supervisory responsibilities under the Money Laundering Regulations to protect funding for UK public services.

Manages compliance risks across all main taxes and duties, leads on work tackling hidden economy, facilitating international trade and enforcing National Minimum Wage.

Plays a central role in compliance and enforcement activity by enabling HMRC to understand, assess and manage risks across the tax system through information gathering and data analysis.

Drives benefits-focused change in compliance activity across Customer Compliance Group and facilitates compliance input and change delivery from wider HMRC programmes, ensuring best practice is shared and embedded.

Wealthy and Mid-sized Business Compliance

Focuses on wealthy individuals, mid-sized businesses, public bodies, trusts and charities. Also deals with risks including employment status and intermediaries, Inheritance Tax and various incentives and reliefs.
