Introduction
1. This circular is to confirm the payment details of the £19.6 million funding made available to local authorities (LAs) to support the administration of the Verify Earnings and Pensions (VEP) alerts service for 2019 to 2020.
Funding detail
2. A letter providing full detail on the funding and individual LA funding amounts was issued to revenues and benefits managers and chief finance or section 151 officers on 18 April 2019.
3. This funding is to help provide LAs with the capacity to process VEP alerts only during 2019 to 2020. It is being paid on the basis that LAs are and will continue to:
- actively engage in the VEP administration process
- effectively utilise funds to enable the capacity to administer the VEP alerts
- accurately complete management information to record VEP alert outcomes in the VEP system
Payment details
4. Payments will be paid into LA bank accounts the week commencing 6 May 2019. The individual LA payment amounts are shown in Annex A.
