Introduction
1. This circular is to confirm the payment details of the total £12.8 million funding made available to local authorities (LAs) to support the administration of the Verify Earnings and Pensions (VEP) service for 2021 to 2022.
Funding detail
2. Clare Elliott wrote to each LA separately on 4 March 2021. This letter provided full details on the 2021 to 2022 VEP service and individual LA’s indicative funding allocation based on our initial figure of £12.7 million.
3. Funding for VEP has now increased to £12.8 million and as such individual LA funding allocations have been adjusted accordingly. Full details are provided at Annex A.
4. Funding is to help provide LAs with the capacity to process VEP Tasks during 2021 to 2022. LAs are required to:
- actively engage in the VEP administration process
- effectively utilise funds to enable capacity to administer the VEP Tasks
- accurately complete management information (MI) to record VEP Task outcomes in the VEP system
Monitoring
5. Local Authority Partnership, Engagement and Delivery (LA-PED) Performance Development Team (PDT) will receive MI on VEP performance. We now plan to gradually re-introduce the performance management arrangements (subject to national and local conditions relating to the pandemic) between now and September 2021. During this time, we will remain flexible and our focus throughout will be, of course, to support LAs. PDT Performance Relationship Managers are available to LAs to discuss any concerns regarding the delivery of HB services. They can be contacted at lawelfare.pdtprm@dwp.gov.uk
