This document sets out how the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) processes certain types of personal data, known as special category data, and personal data relating to criminal convictions, in line with our legal obligations.

  1. Added: "protecting against the serious cross-border threats to health" to examples of the special category data processing condition relating to public interest in the area of public health, and "religious belief" to list of special categories of data processed by DHSC for the purpose of equality and diversity. Removed "and also joint data controller" from section relating to DHSC being the data controller for both the department and its executive agencies.
