Details
Response by the bill’s promoter:
- noting the ‘in principle’ decisions
- explaining the provision of various funds to, amongst other things:
- provide a legacy of road safety improvements
- help land owners plant new broadleaf woodland and restore existing ancient woodland
This provides a response to the issues raised by the House of Commons select committee in the First special report of session 2017 to 2019, 24 May 2018. The First special report of session 2017 to 2019 was published after hearing the petitions against the High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill.
In paragraph 10 of the response, the promoter agreed to publish an updated cost for the lowering of the River Lea viaduct and extension of the southern portal of the Whitmore tunnel when Additional Provision 2 to the Bill was deposited, the select committee having referred in their report to an estimated cost saving at the time of their hearings of £12.8 million. The current estimated cost saving is £13.11 million.
