A report to government by HS2 Ltd (March 2012)

This report by Arup was commissioned by HS2 Ltd to undertake a study of route engineering options for a proposed connection between the London to West Midlands high speed line and Heathrow Airport.

The government has now paused work on the Heathrow spur until after the Airports Commission has reported and there has been an opportunity to consider the commission’s recommendations.

This report is complementary to HS2 Ltd’s report to government ‘Options for phase two of the high speed rail network’ and does not duplicate its contents.

This report should also be read in conjunction with volume 1 of the engineering report: ‘Options for phase two of the high speed rail network approach to design’.
