A report to government by HS2 Ltd (March 2012)

This report gives detailed descriptions of the sections of route developed and finalised for the West Midlands to Leeds leg and describes the engineering layout and implications of the options studied.

Arup was commissioned by HS2 Ltd to undertake a study of route engineering options for a proposed high speed line between the West Midlands and Leeds, with a connection to the East Coast Main Line. Provision was to be made for stations serving the East Midlands and South Yorkshire.

This report is complementary to HS2 Ltd’s report to government ‘Options for phase two of the high speed rail network’ and does not duplicate its contents.

This report should also be read in conjunction with volume 1 of the engineering report: ‘Options for phase two of the high speed rail network approach to design’.
