This document provides the UK government’s response to the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) review of UK aid to Afghanistan (November 2022).

The UK government welcomes ICAI’s recognition of the government’s contribution to Afghanistan. The UK played an influential leadership role to shape international humanitarian and development assistance. UK aid funding had a positive impact on health services and education, expanding Afghanistan’s infrastructure, and empowering women and girls.
