The UK government welcomes the Independent Commission for Aid Impact’s review of the Blue Planet Fund (BPF) and fully accepts its recommendations.

We share ICAI’s view that the BPF represents a significant increase in the UK’s contribution to tackling key marine issues and supporting the globally underfunded UN Sustainable Development Goal 14.

We are committed to improving the coherence, effectiveness, and relevance of the BPF programme portfolio. We are implementing specific actions to address each recommendation and embed learning from ICAI’s findings.

This will support the UK’s international priority to end extreme poverty and tackle climate change and biodiversity loss. That is set out in the UK International Development white paper and other international strategies including the Integrated Review Refresh and the International Climate Finance (ICF) Strategy.
