Details

The British Embassy can confirm that HM Government does not have an Identification Card. Under the terms of the Identity Documents Act 2010, identity cards ceased to be legal documents on the 21st January 2011. The government introduced the Identity Documents Act 2010, which received the Royal assent on the 21st December 2010.

A British Passport should be used as proof of identity.
