Imerys Minerals Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

Application number NPS/WR/043544 is to vary licence serial number 15/47/002/S/009 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Plym at Ditsworthy Warren, Devon at National Grid Reference (NGR) SX 587 662. The variation applied for is to change the point of abstraction to Big Pond, Lee Moor, Devon, at NGR SX 57448 63103.

Application number NPS/WR/043751 is for a licence to abstract water from the River Plym at Ditsworthy Warren, Devon, at NGR SX 58713 66226 to transfer it to Ditsworthy Leat at Ditsworthy Warren, Devon, without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 209 cubic metres an hour

  • 5,000 cubic metres a day

  • 1,825,000 cubic metres a year

Further details are: water transferred to Ditsworthy Leat may subsequently flow into Big Pond, where it may be used to support the proposed abstraction under licence 15/47/002/S/009.
