Landlord immigration checks
The Immigration Act 2014 means some private landlords will need to check that new tenants have the right to rent in the UK. Landlords who rent to illegal immigrants without doing these checks will be liable for a civil penalty up to £3,000.
Landlord immigration checks will come into force in one part of the UK in late autumn 2014.
