Details

Regulatory Impact Assessments (RIAs – often shortened to IAs) are documents used by Government Departments and Regulators to support legislative change, regulate markets and support policy development by economic regulators. Since its establishment in 2009, the RPC has independently scrutinised over 2,600 IAs. This gives us an extensive and unique insight into the creation, characteristics, quality and uses of IAs; as well as common areas of concern, and evidence of modifications which could improve the analysis, evidence and communication within IAs, which are discussed and debated in this think piece.
