Details

This report presents findings from research conducted by Ipsos UK for the Home Office, including:

  • the range, nature, and extent of impacts of anti-social behaviour (ASB) on individuals and communities
  • how impacts differ by both type of ASB and demographics of victims

The research found that ASB negatively impacted nearly all participants’ quality of life, with individuals experiencing a range of emotional impacts ranging from annoyance and anger to anxiety and depression and many adapting their behaviours due to fear of ASB. ASB weakens trust in community and institutions (police and local authorities) and impacts are also felt by an individual’s personal networks. Several factors influence the severity of impacts experienced, including the frequency and type of ASB, and individual demographics.
