Information you'll need to apply for release from conditions of relief for a motor vehicle

You’ll need the following information to complete the application form to apply for release from the conditions of Transfer of Residence or Returned Goods Relief for a private motor vehicle you’ve imported :
- proof of ownership of the vehicle (for example, bill of sale or purchase invoice)
- proof of value of the vehicle (for example, invoice)
- a copy of import entry (if applying for release from conditions of relief)
- proof that duty and vat has been paid (if applicable)
- vehicle details, including current registration
- vehicle Identification Number (the chassis number)
- the country of first registration
- the date of first registration
- the distance travelled
- vehicle import details including:
- port, date of import
- country where you acquired the vehicle
- whether the vehicle was imported under transfer of residence relief
- where customs duty or VAT have been paid on the vehicle in the EU or Turkey
- whether the vehicle has been kept outside the EU or Turkey for any period of more than 3 years since you acquired it
You’ll also have to give the vehicle:
- make
- model
- body style
- number of doors
- engine number
- cylinder capacity, and any extras fitted
