The letter from Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families Brendan Clarke-Smith MP revokes the statutory direction issued to Kingston upon Hull City Council on 15 July 2020 and replaces it with an improvement notice.
The Department for Education has revoked the direction in response to improved performance in children’s social care services and services for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
An improvement notice has been issued to reflect that improvements are still needed in its children’s services. The improvement notice requires Kingston upon Hull City Council to take steps to improve all the areas identified in Ofsted’s inspection report of the council’s children’s social care services published on 17 May 2019.
