The cost of an application for an incidental coal agreement is based on the tonnage of coal that is anticipated to be removed:

  • £575 for 0 to 100 tonnes
  • £1,150 for 100 to 1,000 tonnes
  • £2,875 for more than 1,000 tonnes

If you remove more coal and exceed the maximum tonnage for the application fee paid, an additional payment will be required to cover the difference.

For agreements that have a term greater than 12 months, an annual fee of £575 is payable each year on the anniversary of the agreement.

All coal removed under an incidental coal agreement is subject to a royalty payment of £1 per tonne plus VAT.
