Providing housing that meets people’s different needs across the UK is a national challenge. Improved location data alone cannot tackle this challenge, but data-driven innovation in the land and property sector has the potential to support national housing targets through increased transparency, efficiency, and productivity.
Housing and local planning is one of the key opportunity areas identified in the UK Geospatial Strategy. To help unlock the geospatial value across housing and planning the Geospatial Commission have published an independent housing and planning data review, which was conducted by Newgate Research.
It provides not only the government, but the planning and housing sectors, with an understanding of how geospatial data is being used to support and manage planning and housing and finding out what the main challenges and opportunities are.
