Details

The Department of Health and Social Care introduced a new process for ministerial intervention in the reconfiguration of NHS services from 31 January 2024.

The ways of working document for the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) sets out:

  • the role and purpose of the IRP
  • how the IRP provides formal advice to ministers
  • informal advice available from the IRP for other parties
  • transitional arrangements for local authority referrals prior to 31 January 2024
