Vehicle approval test costs: motorcycles

This guide sets out the fees and average test times for having motorcycle vehicle approval tests done.

You must give at least 3 clear working days’ notice to change or cancel your test or you’ll have to pay the test again.

1. Check which type of fee applies

The fee will depend on: - whether your test is in working hours - your vehicle

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, and Friday 8am to 4:30pm

2. Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval test

You can apply for MSVA for vehicles that: - are under 10 years old - have not been registered before in the UK - do not have ECWVTA

In this section:

2.1 Low power moped

This is any moped with pedals, with auxiliary propulsion not exceeding 1kW and a maximum design speed not exceeding 25 km/h(16mph).

3. Partial Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval test

You will need a partial test if you have a Certificate of Conformity and your vehicle is modified for use in Great Britain.

This test is subject to VAT.
