This document sets out the process for early career teacher (including newly qualified teachers (NQTs) before 1 September 2021) induction appeals. It is intended for use by teachers, their representatives, employers, appropriate bodies and panel members hearing the appeals.

  1. The Induction appeals procedure (July 2024) has been updated to reflect the change to the Early Career Framework (ECF), which has taken over from the Induction for Teachers framework. Changes reflected in the updated Induction appeals guidance include reference to the new ECF; an acknowledgement that induction takes place over a 2-year time period instead of the previous one-year time period; and adjustments to timeframes for when information/correspondence is transferred between the Teaching Regulation Agency and external stakeholders.
