This rapid evidence summary identified and summarised evidence relating to the infectious and incubation period of influenza (H5).

It explores the time frame in which an individual may transmit the infection to other individuals (infectious period) and the time between an individual contracting an infection and symptom onset (incubation period) of influenza A (H5).

The rapid evidence summary searched for research published up to 26 April 2024 and included 11 studies. There were 4 retrospective cohort studies, 6 case series, and 1 case report.
