We have received a number of requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 about aspects of the new ‘Life in the UK’ tests. These requests asked for the following information:

  1. Any assessment, analyses or reports made of the possibility of impersonation during the tests - i.e. someone other than the person applying for citizenship taking the on-line test; full details of any measures proposed to deal with such problems
  2. For any documents, analyses or reports relating to the pilot scheme held in June 2005 for the Life in the UK Test.
  3. The number of people who took Life in the UK tests within the first month; the number of candidates who passed in that period; the number of candidates who failed; the pass rate expressed as a percentage
