The department received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) requesting the following:-
- The number of interpreters employed by the Central Interpreters Unit who speak a Kurdish language who applied for security clearance.
a) Of those in 1. above, the number who failed security clearance in respect of each year.
- Information relating to the number of interpreters employed by the Central Interpreters Unit who underwent security clearance checks in each of the years 2002 - 2005 and to the extent that the information is available, 2006.
a) Of those referred to in question 2 broken down by year, the number who failed security clearance.
