Information Fair Trader Scheme: Commitment Statement
Updated 16 May 2016
Applies to England and Wales
I am personally committed to making sure that we trade fairly in information. To show the strength of my commitment, both in Land Registry and to our customers, I have asked the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI), part of The National Archives, to periodically verify that the organisation and decision making of Land Registry support this commitment in practice. I will allow OPSI full access to the relevant staff and records for this purpose.
I will insist that we strictly follow an open and transparent system of trading that meets the terms of the Competition Act 1998 and the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015. My aim is that, in principle, we can meet all the needs of anyone who applies for a licence to re-use information for any purpose. We will publish any exceptions on GOV.UK and follow them.
The role of information trading is written into our business model and we set prices accordingly, publishing information about this on our data and commercial services pages on GOV.UK.
I am committed to reducing as far as possible the administrative burden on people who re-use public sector information. I will make sure that we use processes for trading information that are similar to those of the rest of the public sector. I will ensure that we investigate any complaints about our approach to trading information.
