Information requests from the Home Office to NHS Digital

Memorandum of understanding (MOU) on processing information requests from the Home Office to NHS Digital to be able to trace immigration offenders.

The memorandum of understanding was withdrawn on 9 November 2018. The Department of Health and Social Care, the Home Office and NHS Digital continue to work together to agree how future information requests will be processed.

Details

The MOU is between the Home Office, the Health and Social Care Information Centre (now known as NHS Digital) and the Department of Health.

It formalises existing arrangements for the Home Office to make disclosure requests to NHS Digital for the purpose of tracing immigration offenders and vulnerable people who may be at risk.

The names of junior officials have been redacted in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

The MOU came into effect on 1 January 2017 and was renewed by the 3 parties on 20 December 2017.
