Thank you for your email of 27 November in which you requested from the Insolvency Service:
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know the following:
- How many adverse conduct reports against Directors were sent to the Insolvency Service by insolvency practitioners
Please provide this data with a year-end of September 30 (or whichever is most convenient) for each of the last five years. If you are unable to provide data for the last five years, please just provide it for each of the last four years. If this is not possible, please provide data for each of the last three years. If this is not possible please provide data for each of the last two years. If that is not possible, please just provide data for the latest year available.
Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
I have provided the requested information below.
The figures for each year from 1 April to 31 March have been listed.
2015-2016 - 4277
2016-2017 - 7721
2017–2018 - 8530
2018-2019 - 9059
2019-2020 – 8784
Please note there was a change in 2016-2017 from a paper-based reporting system to a digital format of the report. This led to an assessment by an algorithm based on the answers to the questions to determine if there was potential misconduct or not. This is the reason for the significant increase in numbers for that year.
