Re: Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your email of 12 September 2022 in which you requested the following from the Insolvency Service:
“Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know:
- The total number of redundancy payments made by the Insolvency Service on behalf of insolvent businesses, broken down by month.
- The total amount paid by the Insolvency Service in redundancy payments, broken down by month.
I would like the data for the most recent five years, with a year end of August 31, or whichever year-end is most convenient. If you cannot provide the last five years of data, then please provide the last four years. If you cannot provide data for the last four years, please provide it for the last three years. If you cannot provide data for the last three years, please provide it for the last two years. If you cannot provide data for the last two years then please provide the data for the most recent year.
If it is not possible to break the data down by month, please provide annual figures.”
Your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
I can confirm the agency holds the information that you have requested, and the requested information is included in the attached annexe.
Please note, we have been unable to provide figures prior to January 2019 as payments were made under a different system prior to this date. Figures reflect the totals and volumes of individual components, rather than individual claims. Components payable by the Insolvency Service include redundancy, holiday pay, arrears of pay, loss of notice, protective awards and basic awards.
If you are not satisfied with the response we have provided you and would like us to reconsider our decision by way of an internal review (IR), please contact our Information Rights Team at foi@insolvency.gov.uk or by post at:
