It was announced on 15 December 2021 that I have been appointed by the Prime Minister to chair the public inquiry into the UK’s response to the coronavirus crisis.
Given the demands of that position, I intend to step down from my role as Inspector of the Iraq Fatality Investigations when the Secretary of State confirms the appointment of my successor.
I will continue with my investigations until the new Inspector is appointed and will do what I can to ensure the transition is smooth.
