Works (whether temporary or permanent) within the fluvial floodplain of or within 8 metres of the Leiston Drain (main river).
Description of activity
Construction activities within the fluvial floodplain and/or 8m of the Leiston Drain upstream of Sizewell Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) Bridge Crossing. These tranche 2 works involve installation of an Environmental Sheet Pile Barrier (ESPB) to form the northwest corner of the Main Construction Area (MCA) and the permanent realignment of the Sizewell Drain into the Leiston Drain upstream of the existing confluence. The works includes constructing temporary access canals, temporary storage of side cast materials (soils) and use of temporary access tracks and load out areas within the floodplain plus removal of an existing footbridge, installation of two temporary clear span footbridges and a communications cable crossing.
