Supporting paper prepared by the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infection Consortium (ISARIC) on COVID-19 cases involving children and young people. This paper uses data provided by the COVID-19 Clinical Information Network (CO-CIN). This paper was available for participants to read at SAGE 95 on 9 September 2021, but not considered or discussed in the meeting. As new evidence or data emerges, SAGE updates its advice accordingly.

This paper should be read alongside the accompanying paper ISARIC: Comparison of children and young people admitted with SARS-CoV-2 across the UK in the first and second pandemic waves: prospective multicentre observational cohort study, 9 September 2021, from SAGE 95.

These documents are released as pre-print publications that have provided the government with rapid evidence during an emergency. These documents have not been peer-reviewed and there is no restriction on authors submitting and publishing this evidence in peer-reviewed journals.
