1. Rule requirement

1.1 Domain name system (DNS)

Defence ICT shall comply with MOD DNS policy. Projects shall have sought guidance and design approval from ISS DES Arch.

2. Rule rationale

DNS is the de facto standard for providing an abstract name-based method for interaction with the IP addressing space.

4. Rule requirement: process

4.1 Domain name system (DNS)

Initial gate

  • Project shall engage with ISS DES Arch to understand the MoD DNS requirements

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to implement and test DNS in their draft SRD

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to test DNS operation in their ITEAP

Main Gate

  • Project shall engage with ISS DES Arch to understand the MoD DNS requirements

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to implement and test DNS in their SRD

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to test DNS operation in their ITEAP

PDR

  • Projects shall provide design documentation to show intended compliance with DNS requirements. ISS DES Arch are to approve the projects intended implementation

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to test DNS operation in their ITEAP

CDR

  • Projects shall provide design documentation to show intended compliance with DNS requirements. ISS DES Arch are to approve the projects intended implementation

  • Projects shall identify the requirement to test DNS operation in their ITEAP

TRRA

Projects shall provide evidence obtained through testing on a representative environment that DNS operates as per design requirements
