Kendal Nutricare Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising glacial deposits at Kendal Nutricare’s factory in Kendal, Cumbria, at National Grid References SD 51651 94251 (Borehole 2) and SD 51666 94281 (Borehole 3).
The applicant intends to abstract water from both boreholes at the following rates:

25 cubic metres an hour

600 cubic metres a day

219,000 cubic metres a year
-
between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water will be used for factory processes.
