King scallop fisheries management plan (FMP)

The king scallop FMP describes how we will achieve the long-term sustainable management of king scallop fisheries in English and Welsh waters.

Details

The king scallop fisheries management plan (FMP) covers stocks in English and Welsh waters.

Defra and the Welsh Government prepared the king scallop FMP in partnership with the Scallop Industry Consultation Group Working Group, a collaborative forum that brings together industry, academia, and government regulators and policy makers.

The king scallop FMP has been prepared and published to meet the requirements set out in the Fisheries Act 2020.

Status

The final FMP was published in December 2023.
