The Leader of the House of Commons and Chair of the Modernisation Committee, The Rt Hon Lucy Powell MP, wrote to Doug Chalmers CB DSO OBE, Chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, regarding the government’s plans to “drive up standards and expectations of Members” of Parliament, and to establish a Modernisation Committee to improve the “standards, culture and working practices of the House”.
