Details

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government wrote to Maldon district council on 8 June 2015 directing the council’s emerging local plan to be submitted to him for approval.

This is to test whether the planning inspector has taken a proportionate and balanced view on the local plan as a whole in the light of national planning policy.

The National Planning Policy Framework sets out that local plans should be positively prepared, justified, effective, consistent with national policy, and based on proportionate evidence.

In July 2017 Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, approved the Maldon District Local Development Plan.
