Details

An apprenticeship is a job with a formal programme of off-the-job training. Off-the-job training is an essential part, and a legal requirement, of an apprenticeship.

This guidance relates to the Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver Apprenticeship and the Urban Driver Apprenticeship and explains:

  • how many hours of off-the-job training are required
  • which activities count towards off-the-job training and which do not

The Flexible apprenticeships presentation document describes how off-the-job training can be flexed to meet individual employer needs.
