Dear Minister
Animal in Science Committee – Report of the Licence Analysis Subgroup
The Animals in Science Committee (ASC) is pleased to send to you the Report of the Licence Analysis Subgroup.
This report summarises the findings of the ASC following a review of a selection of project licences taken from a range of species and severity ratings that would not normally be referred to the Committee.
The review was carried out in response to a recommendation made by the former ASC Licence Referral Review Subgroup, that the ASC should gain a broader view of the range of licences assessed by the Animals in Science Regulation Unit (ASRU) and to offer any appropriate advice based on the report’s findings.
The report highlights areas for improvement within the licencing process and sets out recommendations to applicants and ASRU to support those improvements.
The ASC would like to thank ASRU for their assistance to the Committee during this review, and we look forward to working with ASRU to implement the recommendations.
Yours sincerely,
Professor David Main
Chair of the Animals in Science Committee
