Details

This form outlines the information the Official Solicitor requires to assess whether they can act as litigation friend in civil proceedings, as well as their criteria for consenting to act. The form helps the Official Solicitor understand the situation and make decisions more quickly.

In circumstances where the Family Court has agreed a referral should be made to the Official Solicitor after care proceedings to consider if the child has a damages claim against the local authority, the child’s solicitor from the care proceedings must refer to the relevant practice note and submit the local authority damages referral form.

All other referrals to the Official Solicitor’s Civil Litigation Team should be made using the litigation friend for civil litigation proceedings referral form.
