Details

It is important that the impacts on the local environment of any proposed policy, programme or project are understood and fully reflected in decision making.

The appropriate approach will depend upon the decision being made. Economic valuation tools provide a useful tool to assess the scale of impact but may not be representative at a local level.

This guidance provides detail on the derivation and application of the values used in the economic valuation tools.

Information on these values is also available from the underpinning research.
