In June 2015 the Cabinet Office launched the Local Sustainability Fund (LSF). The LSF supports the sustainability of high-impact voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. It is administered by the Big Lottery Fund.

The LSF provides £20 million of government funding. It is available to medium-sized VCSE organisations (those with an income of between £100,000 to £1.5 million a year), which provide vital services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

The first phase of the application process closed on 26 July 2015. Over 1,000 organisations responded, and approximately 400 of these have been shortlisted and invited to submit a full application.
