Details

The Improvement and Assurance Panel was appointed by the Secretary of State to provide support and challenge to the London Borough of Croydon as they seek to make the changes needed to turn the council round.

In its second report updating on progress, the Panel sets out the financial challenges faced by the council alongside the steps that they are taking to mitigate those challenges.

Ministerial response to the second report

The Secretary of State’s response to the Improvement and Assurance Panel’s second report notes their assessment of the council’s progress in making improvements and stresses the importance of the ongoing work to unravel the complex financial issues that have been uncovered and to make and implement credible plans to mitigate the challenges the council faces.

Once again, the Secretary of State also stresses importance of the Panel’s reports in providing evidence on which any further actions would be based.
