Details

London weighting payments made by employers can affect the calculation of points under tier 1 and tier 2 of the points-based system (PBS) and therefore, in some cases, decisions made regarding whether immigrants from outside the EEA can work in the UK.

This report considers if the government should exclude the London weighting from the PBS so that it reflects regional wage differences across the UK, and the effect that would have on the UK labour market and the economy.
