Details
The Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 Competition supported innovation in the supply of hydrogen, reducing the costs of supplying hydrogen, bringing new solutions to the market, and ensuring that the UK continues to develop world leading hydrogen technologies for a future hydrogen economy.
Up to £60 million has been competitively awarded to projects that can help develop a wide range of innovative low-carbon hydrogen supply solutions.
The competition was delivered via 2 streams, and Stream 1 was run over 2 phases.
Stream 1 Phase 1 (closed)
Phase 1 supported the development of feasibility studies with technology readiness levels between 4 and 6, valued at up to £300,000 per project.
We published summaries of the successful Stream 1 Phase 1 projects, and the Stream 1 Phase 1 Feasibility study reports.
Stream 1 Phase 2 (closed)
Phase 2 down selected projects from Phase 1 with technology readiness levels between 4 and 7, to support demonstrations at up to £6 million per project.
Stream 2 (closed)
Stream 2 supported demonstration of projects that are closer to market with technology readiness levels between 6 and 7. It provided up to £10 million per project to demonstrate the hydrogen supply opportunities.
We held an online Stakeholder Engagement Day on 8 June 2021 to provide more information about the competition and the opportunity to ask questions. The slide pack and questions and answers are available in the Documents section.
Background
The competition follows on from the first Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply Competition, and forms part of the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP).
