Low risk waste position: food from retailers and producers, including former foodstuffs

The Environment Agency provided these low risk waste positions (LRWPs) for waste operations that it considered may be suitable for an exemption.

This publication was withdrawn on

The Environment Agency has withdrawn these low risk waste positions and replaced them with regulatory position statements (RPSs).

Storing food waste in sealed containers: RPS 332 has replaced ‘Collecting and storing food waste: LRWP 84’.

Storing and compacting waste coffee grounds: RPS 306 has replaced ‘Storing and compacting waste coffee grounds to produce a briquette: LRWP 45’.

Details

If the Environment Agency provides a LRWP for an activity, you can carry it out without an environmental permit for a waste operation provided that you meet all the conditions.

The Environment Agency may review its LRWPs. It may decide the activity is no longer suitable for a LRWP or that the conditions need changing. You must regularly check that LRWP you are benefiting from is still in place.
