Low Wood Hotel 1958 Limited: application made to abstract water and impound water

An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Low Wood Hotel 1958 Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Hol Beck at National Grid Reference (NGR) NY 39259 02587 at Low Wood Hotel, Windermere. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:
- 284.4 cubic metres an hour
- 6825.6 cubic metres a day
- 1,501,632 cubic metres a year
- At an instantaneous rate of 79 litres per second
All year
The water will be used for a high head hydro electric power production scheme.
Application is also being made for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of Hol Beck at the abstraction point described above. The object of impounding water by means of the works is to install a screened intake weir.
