In April 2024, HMRC’s Accounting Officer undertook an assessment of the Making Tax Digital Programme.

The Making Tax Digital (MTD) Programme aims to support UK businesses to transact digitally and forms a crucial building block in HMRC’s transformation plans and the government’s ten-year strategy to modernise the UK tax system, making it more resilient and effective, boosting business productivity, and supporting taxpayers.

The Accounting Officer’s assessment concluded that the programme is value for money and deliverable.
