the ‘Traffic orders procedure (coronavirus) (amendment) (England) regulations 2020’.

The guidance includes clarifying information on the:

  • traffic orders, which are required to make and enforce changes to a road’s use or its design plus:
    • emergency procedure for orders made to deal with the effects of coronavirus
    • the publicity requirements for other types of orders – permanent, experimental or temporary

These amendments speed up the time it takes for traffic authorities to make traffic orders and deal with the effects of coronavirus, including:

  • social distancing
  • promoting active travel
